Nisus (theMovement) If the sound makes you move then it's good

The word “nisus” is something that caught my attention years ago. The word itself is was culled from Buddhism and in a rough translation means “a forward moving energy in the universe” I needed a Dj name and this one stuck and has become a framework for my life.

The movement or (theMovement) is my understanding of the process of moving forward. I chose to modify Nisus with (theMovement) in an effort to separate myself from what I do when I DJ. The whole DJ thing is so culturally overwhelmed by egos that I wanted to be specific about what I’m attempting to do by being a DJ. (theMovement) is a headspace that you find when your self is lost in the process of dancing. It also happens to athletes who are in the zone. Anytime you lose track of time and are flowing through the environment you are in theMovement (see the Animatrix for an example). Bringing about this state of mind in my audience is my goal as a DJ. Because this headspace acknowledges the individual as supreme authority it denies the superficial authorities of politics and religion. So it is a movement in the political sense by default but not by intention. My belief is that every person’s movement of consciousness through out their lifetime is leading them towards the acknowledgment and application of their Divine Agency. When you learn to see yourself with out the mediated social structures layered upon you, who you “are” becomes visible. Conversely, visions of who you want to be make their appearances.

I DJ because like a photograph representing thousands of words, I can use music without the audience needing to know the language. If it feels good then it is. If it makes you move then its good. If you find theMovement in the process then wonderful. This has been music’s gift to me over my lifetime and as a DJ it’s my gift to you. I am building bridges with this sound, playing everywhere I get the chance to play. Moving between deep forest renegade sound sets and the polished gloss of urban hoteliers and clubs with the same crate of records, testing the sound. Echoing off of dance floors listening to the reactions of the crowd, testing and playing and refining the set. No one knows who I am yet or where I came from with this sound but my intention is to bring it to as many people as possible. Thanks for listening. D
